Profiles of World Wandering Women (WWW): O’Hare – Arlanda – Fiumicino

So this is something new I’m going to try, so let me know if it’s something you like or not. The idea came to me during my most recent international journey from the ‘States to Roma. I know I haven’t posted anything about my time in Roma (yet) but it will be coming soon, I’ve just had a wee bit of chaos this week. 😉

My flight began in Chicago with a layover in Stockholm, and a final destination of Rome. I decided to interview a few fellow women travelers whilst in transit, to learn more about ladies like myself and perhaps learn a few things in the process.

Chicago O’Hare International Airport

In Chicago I met Stephanie and Katrina, two lovely ladies from Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. On this day, they were en route to London where Stephanie’s boyfriend resides. The ladies planned to travel around England a bit for three weeks and then Stephanie was going to bounce off for a wee bit more travel throughout the rest of the UK, Belgium, and Germany.

While Stephanie had traveled abroad for the first time last year, this is Katrina’s first time travelling abroad and I couldn’t be more excited for her!

  • Home: Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
  • Destination: London
  • Favorite City: Prague or Rome
  • Must have travel essential: Her VERY organized folder containing their itineraries, maps, hostel reservations, and everything else needed to navigate new cities effectively and efficiently.

  • Must have travel essential: Earplugs (who doesn’t love falling asleep on a plane in one city only to wake up in an entirely new city and sometimes even country?!).

Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Whilst waiting in Stockholm for my flight to Rome I met Emma who was also headed to Rome for a long weekend with some girlfriends. After speaking with Emma for only a brief few moments I knew she was a girl after my own heart as one of my favorite ways to experience a culture is through their cuisine (I’m only on day five in Rome and I know this will be a problem).

Favorite City: Basically, anywhere that’s got good food. I really like Singapore, for example, because you can get good food there 24/7.

  • Must have travel essential: Just a toothbrush.

To quote Dr. Seuss

“Oh the places you’ll go, oh the people you’ll meet.” I met some lovely ladies in Chicago and Stockholm and am jealous of Katrina, as this is her first time abroad. I’m sure it will be an unforgettable experience. I know my first time abroad certainly was, that being stated, every time I’m abroad it seems magical. A wee bit too good to be true.

After seeing Stephanie’s travel folder, I made a mental note to hire her as a PA (if I’ve ever the funds for one 😉 as she’s far more organized than I’ll ever be).

And I envy Anna and her friends, I hope they had a lovely time eating their way through Rome. This city would be a lovely one to explore with my girlfriends, maybe next time I will get the opportunity!

As I said earlier, this is my first time around on this type of article, but found it enjoyable to meet a few new people whilst travelling so let me know if you enjoyed it by commenting on the post, and if so I’ll keep doing it! 😉

Well I’m off for the evening, my flatmate and I are going to some sort of photo festival, so I’ll start writing posts regarding my experiences here in Rome soon. Ciao!
